Arrival and the right meeting point

For a rail journey to Portofino, the reference is Santa Margherita Ligure-Portofino, a station outside the village. Its combined name does not mean a train arrival beside the piazzetta. When requesting a transfer from the station, keep the full name and agree on the final roadside point in Portofino. The municipality describes the village as a pedestrian area with authorised access. Do not assume a taxi can stop outside every hotel, restaurant or boat in the harbour.

Finding your way around local landmarks

Piazza Martiri della Libertà is a road-arrival reference, separate from the walk to Castello Brown. The municipal castle operator describes foot routes from the San Giorgio churchyard or the pier area. After your visit, plan to walk to the agreed road meeting point to meet your taxi. Check the walking route with the site if you have mobility requirements, and plan the pedestrian section separately from the vehicle meeting point before setting the return time.

Planning the return and onward connections

For departure from the village, consider where your walk will end and agree on a point reachable under the conditions at the time.
